2012 Spooktacular Halloween Events on the Outer Banks
It feels like fall, it smells like fall, the surf and fishing are great, the mums are out, and my wife is burning a pumpkin candle in the house.
Yep, it's pretty much fall, and that means one of the greatest holidays of the year is coming around the bend...Halloween! Costumes, candy, ghosts and goblins! Sweetness!
The OBX is always a blast for Halloween, and we have some great additions for 2012...
1. First, a great OBX Halloween staple...& a 10 year anniversary no less!: Trick or Treat Under the Sea
Celebrating 10 years of Trick or Treat Under the Sea
Trick or Treat Under the Sea (TOTUS) celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year, expanding to two nights to accommodate more ghosts and goblins! Join us at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island Oct. 24 and 25 from 6-8:30 p.m. for this community Halloween event.
Treats are provided by local businesses, and contests include “Scream” and “Costume,” along with many other action-packed activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No masks for adults, please.
Admission is $8 per person and $6 for members. Ages 2 and under are admitted free. A limited number of tickets are available for this popular event. Advance purchase is highly recommended. Tickets go on sale Oct. 1 at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island and online at ncaquariums.com. For more information, call 252-473-3494.
2. And to continue the Aquarium theme, an awesome new addition at Jennette's Pier: Fear at the Pier
A haunted adventure at Jennette's Pier! Come to the pier if you dare for ghost tales, haunted trails, games and adventures.

3. Let's not forget the Halloween zombies!: OBX Horror Fest
Horror film festival & zombies invade the Outer Banks...
Halloween on the Outer Banks will never be the same after the first ever OBX Horror Film Festival and Zombie Walk takes over Kill Devil Hills this October.
is proud to announce our official sponsorship of this spirited new event, proceeds from which will fund an original zombie movie to be filmed on the Outer Banks this fall!
Event organizer Thomas Kerrwill begin filming his original horror film Dead Tide on the Outer Banks in mid-November.
Film submissions are currently being accepted for consideration to be included in the innaugural Outer Banks Horror Film Festival at OBXHorrorFest.com
Here's a sneak peek:
The spooky two-day event will take kick off with...
a “zombie mixer” on Friday night, Oct. 26,
followed by the film festival, zombie walk, and a “zombie ball” on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Ramada Inn in Kill Devil Hills.
Tickets are $10 for the mixer, $15 for the film festival, $5 for the walk, and $10 for the ball, or $40 for the whole package, and can be purchased now by firstname.lastname@example.org
To help promote the festival, anyone interested in dressing up like a zombie is invited to the Outer Banks Fishing Pier on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6pm to appear in a commercial to be filmed
on the beach.
