Happy New Year y'all! In keeping with our 14 Things to Try in 2014 New Year's Resolutions post, over the next few weeks, we'll be elaborating on some of these things to try in the upcoming year (apart from visiting the Outer Banks). First up...a dose of healthy recipes for you! After all the holiday indulging, I know I am looking forward to some healthier eating. Now, before you start groaning, healthy eating does not have to mean a life of eating tasteless food. In fact, if you are setting a goal to eat healthy in 2014, we've rounded up 20 healthy recipes to help you get started -- sure to satisfy your taste buds, yet still help you shed some of those extra holiday pounds.

Kale and Banana Smoothie

If you haven't heard yet, kale is extremely good for you. Not only is it high in fiber and low in calories, but it also helps to prevent cancer and heart disease. And since adding a little green to your diet is always a good thing, Well, this ‘green’ smoothie will help with not only your veggie servings but one serving of fruit as well.

Spaghetti Squash with Creme Fraiche Peas and Corn

What, no actual pasta in this dish? You heard right. Trade your traditional carb-filled noodles for spaghetti squash. This amazing veggie has the look, and similar taste, to a carb-filled pasta feast -- but with all of the vitamins and other benefits of a vegetable!

Quinoa and Bean Stuffed Peppers

Made with quinoa and beans, instead of meat, here is a vegetarian take on the traditional stuffed peppers.

Black Bean Breakfast Tacos with Egg, Mushroom, Spinach & Quinoa

To make these super easy tacos, just use some of your leftover filling from the Quinoa and Bean Stuffed Peppers recipe, add some spinach and mushrooms, and throw everything into some scrambled eggs. Then, simply fill a small soft tortilla shell. Voila! Breakfast is served.

Grilled Chicken & Caprese Lettuce Wraps

Who doesn't love a mouth-watering caprese salad...especially during the warm summer months? This spin on the classic caprese salad is fresh, crisp, and simply delicious.

Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Fruit Dip

When served up with some sliced apples, animal crackers, or 'Nilla Wafers, this is a really tasty and low-guilt treat.

Honey Yogurt Waffles

Who doesn't love warm fluffy waffles? Add some healthy Greek yogurt to them and Honey Yogurt Waffles will be a staple on your breakfast menu.

Steak and Feta Salad

When it comes to eating healthy, you can't go wrong with a good salad. Perfect for the hot summer nights when you don’t want to turn on the stove.  Fire up the grill instead and chop the veggies…you are going to LOVE this.

Pepperoni Pizza Muffins

If your family is like mine, we have frozen pizza for dinner almost once a week. With two kids, our week gets pretty hectic and so just knowing that "Pizza Friday" is waiting for me at the end of week gives me a sigh of relief. So, when I found this recipe, I was excited about swapping out our boring frozen pizza for these simple, yummy bites.

Coconut Flour Chocolate Pancakes

I love pancakes...but I don't love all the extra calories that come with them. Move over boring buttermilk pancakes...and make way for these delicious chocolate ones! White Bean and Artichoke Dip This is the perfect dip for parties, tailgating or simply snacking. It also makes a great spread for sandwiches. Grilled Chicken Kabobs Marinated in a mixture of lemon and herbs, these loaded skewers are best cooked on a grill. Serve with a side of quinoa or couscous and a few dollops of guilt-free dilled yogurt sauce and you've got a  healthy and delicious dinner perfect for the summer months.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries I love French fries...and so do my kids. But sweet potatoes? Not so much. However, baked sweet potato fries are the perfect combination! Loaded with Vitamin A, C, manganese, and a great source of fiber, potassium, and iron, these "fries" are actually good for you!

Skinny Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies Get ready for the fudgiest, richest, softest, chewiest brownie you've ever eaten. And you can stop sweating...because this is a fudgy, rich, soft, chewy, SKINNY brownie...swirled with peanut butter. (Shocking news: there is no oil, butter, or flour these!)

Chocolate Protein Breakfast Smoothie For all you coffee lovers out there (ahem), this healthy, protein packed smoothie is for you. Just by using cold coffee, almond milk, chocolate protein powder, powdered peanut butter, a frozen banana and some leafy greens, you get a nice semi-sweet mocha smoothie that is also healthy! 15-Minute White Chicken Chili Now, let me start by saying that I’m usually a fan of thick, dark, tomato-based beefy chili...but when I discovered white chicken chili last year, I was hooked. No matter which chili you prefer, you have to admit, there is nothing better than a big pot of chili, cooking on your stove on a cold winter day. Mmmmmm. Baked Chicken Tenders (Gluten Free) Baked instead of deep-fried...grain and gluten-free...and even better tasting than the original? Is that even possible? Just ask my kids! Just like regular chicken tenders...but a little healthier, these super delicious, and healthy tenders can be made in about 30 minutes -- making it perfect for a busy weeknight.

Sweet and Sour Turkey Meatballs I have to admit, I use ground turkey whenever I can. It's healthier than red meat and tastes just as good! With other nutritious ingredients like onions and carrots, this meal is delicious and satisfying -- especially when the meatballs are coated in sweet and sour sauce (which also contains healthy red bell pepper and pineapple).

Chocolate Chip Cookie Granola Bars Snacktime just got a whole lot sweeter! These chewy, soft, wholesome, and healthy granola bars are so easy to make – they take less than 30 minutes!

Pumpkin Mac and Cheese I know, I know. Pumpkin macaroni and CHEESE? Fear not, cheese lovers. While the pumpkin puree and the Greek yogurt add guilt-free depth and body to the sauce, the extra-sharp cheddar and Parmesan bring big cheese TASTE. So there you have it! 20 delicious, healthy recipes to kick start your 2014 in high gear. Will you be trying any of these scrumptious recipes? Personally, I can't wait to try the pizza muffins and the chocolate swirl brownies. I don't know about you, but if I can eat pizza and chocolate mixed with peanut butter, and still eat healthy, I'll take it.
