In addition to the recreational events of our Club Seaside program, the recreational possibilities on the Outer Banks are virtually infinite...and ones that the whole family can do together.
With the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Currituck, Croatan, Roanoke and Pamlico Sounds to the west, and abundant bays, estuaries, marshes and canals sprinkled in between, the Outer Banks is all about water, and water sports are everywhere. Surfing, windsurfing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, sailing or scuba diving are just some of your options and lessons in most of these sports are offered in convenient locations in Corolla, Duck, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head.
Rollerblading, tennis and bike riding are some of the landlubbers’ favorites around here…and there are plenty of recreational rental companies and miles of scenic paths. If you’re looking for a wild adventure, how about renting an ATV? Or catch a glimpse of Corolla’s famed wild horses – descendants of Spanish Mustangs – running free along the unspoiled beaches of Carova.
It seems natural that the birthplace of modern flight would give rise to a plethora of air sports. Be adventurous and try your hand at parasailing and hang gliding. Or you can simply relax and leave the flying to someone else on a glorious airplane tour.
