NC-12 CLOSED NEAR KITTY HAWK
NC-12 is closed between Starfish Lane and White Avenue near Kitty Hawk, due to ocean over-wash in the area. The roadway is expected to re-open by 4:00 PM. Motorists are advised to exercise caution while driving in the area and to use the following detour: Northbound traffic: Turn left onto White Ave; proceed to US-158 and turn right; proceed to E. Balchen Street and turn right; re-access NC-12.Southbound traffic: Turn right onto Balchen Street; proceed to US-158 and turn left; proceed to Tateway Road and turn left; re-access NC-12.

Motorists in North Carolina should expect heavier than normal traffic due to holiday weekend travel from Friday, September 2nd to Monday, September 5th. Motorists should expect SIGNIFICANT delays on I-85 south of the Virginia State line due to long-term construction. Motorists should use alternate routes to avoid this area.
