Outer Banks Taste Of The Beach
by Jessie S.
March is a great time to Visit the Outer Banks thanks to the OBX Taste of the Beach. Organized by the OBX Restaurant Association, this 4-day annual food and wine festival is an event that foodies, festival-lovers and wine connoisseurs will love. The 2019 OBX Taste of the Beach will feature over 50 different events ranging from brewery tours and wine tastings to cook-offs and cooking classes. Events take place at various venues from Corolla to Nags Head and there are even events in Jarvisburg, Stumpy Point, Manteo and on Hatteras Island. Event times also vary meaning you can definitely fit at a few in your schedule!
This year, there are some notable events you don’t want to miss. The 7th annual Sysco Foods BBQ & Wings Showdown at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head is on March 30 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This event is a heated competition between 15 local restaurants who offer their own twist on some barbecue classics: pulled pork, chicken wings and ribs. Vote on your favorite while you enjoy all-you-can-eat samples, live music and drink tickets. People’s favorite and judge’s favorite will be announced at the end of the event.
Locals Night @ The Soundside on March 29 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM is another awesome event for locals and visitors to enjoy live music, local food, a gorgeous sunset, and a fun movie screening. Admission is free if you bring in a canned food item, otherwise, tickets cost $3.00 per person. All food and proceeds collected support the local Dare County Beach Food Pantry so come out to support a great cause with a night of family fun.
The 2019 Outer Banks Visitors Bureau Chefs Grand Tasting & Bartenders Bubbly Bash occurs on March 31 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Visitors can go from booth to booth to sample tasty treats from local restaurants as well as try some craft beer and a sparkling wine cocktail concocted by competing bartenders. Vote on your favorite local food and drinks as these restaurants compete for a “TOB’y” award at the end of the night in categories like Best In Show, Best Dessert, Best Booth and Chef’s Award. No matter what event you choose to attend, you are sure to have a blast.
