As part of the Outer Banks lifestyle, a huge focus is based on health and wellness. We have an abundance of locations and a variety of ways to stay fit. If you’ve ever driven down Highway 12 in the morning you’ll see the streams of people walking or running along the adjacent path. You'll see gyms and yoga studios lining strip malls.

You'll discover a ton of local races held right on our roads. If you’re someone who cares about your personal health and wellness then the Outer Banks is the perfect place for you. Below are seven planned out days for a health and wellness conscious Outer Banks vacationer.

DAY 1: SPEND THE DAY AT THE BEACH

Start your week off right by unwinding at the beach.

Begin your first full day on the Outer Banks with a morning jog. You’ll be able to unwind from a day of traveling and get your mind relaxed and ready for aweek of fun. In the late morning or early afternoon, go chill out near the water! Bring a towel or chair to relax on and don't forget your umbrella. Make sure to stay well hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen. Remember that it isn't just about working out - you should try to relax and unwind while you are here too! After dinner, go free your mind of all the stress of everyday life and enjoy a relaxing walk on the beach.

DAY 2: ENJOY A COMPLIMENTARY YOGA CLASS & WINE TASTING

Spend the morning freeing your mind while bringing Zen to your body. The talented instructors at Outer Banks Yoga offer Seaside Vacations guests a full sunrise yoga session at their Kitty Hawk studio.

For dinner, head over to Trio in Kitty Hawk and enjoy another complimentary Club Seaside event. Carolina Wine tastings are on Mondays or Tuesdays and be sure to come to the wine tasting with an empty stomach. Trio has plenty of delicious sandwiches, salads and cheese pairings to compilment your wine.

DAY 3: MAKE 3 HEALTHY OUTER BANKS INSPIRED DISHES

Eating right isn’t always as easy as it sounds – especially when you’re on vacation. Luckily we have three simple, healthy, and delicious meals you canmake and eat that you won’t feel guilty about the next day. For your breakfast and lunch menu items, be sure to buy local seafood! There are dozens of local seafood markets all across the Outer Banks that bring in fresh, locally sourced seafood on a regular basis so you know you are getting the best product available. We also have plenty of grocery stores for you to get your other supplies!

DAY 4: DAY OF RELAXATION

Looking for a way to relieve the tension in your muscles? Then look no further than Island Acupuncture and Message Therapy. They are the first healthcare practice on the Outer Banks that specializes in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Don't worry if you aren’t crazy about having a few dozen needles in your back; you can enjoy a therapeutic message from one of their licensed massage therapists.

DAY 5: TRY A VEGETARIAN DISH AT AN OBX RESTAURANT

You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy a great non-meat dish. There are plenty of delicious, vegetarian-friendly cuisine choices on the Outer Banks that you can try. The best part about vegetarian dishes is that they typically contain less calories and cholesterol. Don't worry If you are dining with your family or friends who aren't crazy about a vegetarian meal, the restaurants below also have terriffic surf and turf meat dishes.

DAY 6: WORK YOUR BODY

Don't let your vacation interrupt your workout routine. Get your muscles moving and your heart racing at one of the finest fitness facilities on the Outer Banks!  Staying in shape is easy when you stop by The Gym for your daily workout. Located at milepost 4.5 in Kitty Hawk, The Gym offers everything from fitness, kickboxing and self-defense to strength and conditioning, yoga, marital arts and more!

They have standard weight room gear, free weights, dumbbells up to 100 lbs, squat racks, treadmills, x-fit gear, medicine balls, battle ropes, plyo-boxes, rings, TRX, outdoor climbing rope, tires, sledge hammers, spears, 8-foot wall, boxing ring, Muay Thai bags, and other boxing gear for ultimate strength and conditioning. The Gym also offers fitness kickboxing classes for all experience levels! DAY 7: SPA DAY!

The wide, tranquil waters of Currituck Sound are a serene backdrop to the quest for calm, contentment and renewal happening inside The Sanderling Spa. Here, at this luxurious North Carolina spa, you'll find yourself immersed in surroundings designed to comfort and relax even before the treatment begins. 

The Sanderling Spa's menu of service presents a delightful selection of massage, body, skin and nail treatments -- many of them utilizing sea mud and minerals unique to the area.
