Captain Johnny’s Outer Banks Dolphin Tours
Join Captain Stuart Wescott aboard The Captain Johnny boat for a guaranteed dolphin watch cruise in the protected waters of the Roanoke Sound. This two-hour cruise departs from a dock on the Manteo waterfront and is ideal for all ages.
Enjoy breathtaking views as you listen to a factual narration on the bottlenose dolphin, a type of dolphin found along the Atlantic coast. Dolphin mating and birthing can be observed on many cruises. This year marks Captain Johnny’s 22nd season offering the best dolphin tours on the Outer Banks. During the 2015 season, dolphins were spotted on 98 percent of the tours.
Outer Banks Dolphin Watch Tour Schedule:
Morning Dolphin Watch - 10 a.m.
Afternoon Dolphin Watch - 1 p.m.
Sunset Dolphin Watch - 6 p.m.
From May to October, tours depart several times a day Monday through Friday (and Saturday by appointment or charter). Tickets are sold in advance by phone with a credit card to guarantee. Tickets are sold Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Please call for the current schedule, as times are subject to change with the season. Captain Johnny’s is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

About Stuart Wescott, Dolphin Tours Captain:
Captain Stuart Wescott, a 9th generation Outer Banks native, grew up two blocks from where the tours depart. He spent summers as a youth exploring the local waters fishing and crabbing, hunting and trapping. He lives on waterfront property that has been in his family for more than 200 years.
Historians report that the Wescott family shipwrecked on the Outer Banks sometime in the late 1700s.
