From jewelry and crafts to baked goods and clothing, the Outer Banks is full of talented, local creators who hand make incredible products and thanks to the Dowdy Park Farmer’s Market… you can now shop for them all in one place! Come out to Dowdy Park in Nags Head on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month in June through October and immerse yourself in the best shopping experience that the Outer Banks has to offer! This summer community event is open to both locals and visitors alike and is a fun experience for the whole family. Plus, this is a great opportunity to find exclusive products while supporting local, hardworking farmers, crafters, bakers, jewelers, artists, and more!
About Dowdy Park
Dowdy Park in Nags Head is located at the site of Joe Dowdy’s Amusement Park which closed in 2005. Purchased by the town of Nags Head in 2013 and following community grants, strategic planning and a series of construction phases, the area is now a family-friendly 5-acre recreational park. Features include a multi-dimensional playground fit for kids of all ages and abilities, a fitness trail, restroom facilities, botanical elements, plenty of seating, game tables, an amphitheater, and a large lawn area for yoga classes, yard games, and of course, local events like the Farmer’s Market!
Dowdy Park Farmer's Market
Date: Thursdays on May 23rd, June 13th, June 27th, July 11th, July 25th, August 8th, August 22nd, September 12th, September 26th and October 10th.
Time: 9 AM – 1 PM
Location: 3005 South Croatan Highway (at Bonnett Street), Nags Head, NC 27959
Vendors: There are roughly fifty (50) different vendors who will have stands, tables, and tents set up throughout the park (see the map above). Items include fresh produce, local meat and seafood, baked goods, other food and beverages, soaps and skincare products, art, jewelry, crafts, pottery, photography, clothing, handbags, home décor & more!
Cost: There is no admittance cost to visit the Farmer’s Market. All item prices are set by individual vendors.
Parking: Dowdy Park has a large designated parking lot on site.
Restroom Facilities: Dowdy Park has designated restroom facilities on site.
You Should Bring: While nothing is required and there is no admittance fee, it’s a good idea to bring an appetite, a re-usable bag for your purchases, and even a cooler for your vehicle! (There are perishable items available through different vendors including local produce, meats, and seafood).
