As the holiday season approaches, there's no better time to spread the spirit of giving and make a meaningful impact on our local community. At Seaside Vacations, we believe in the power of coming together to support those in need. That's why we're excited to announce our First Annual Seaside Cares Holiday Drive Trifecta supporting our Seaside Cares initiatives in the local community. We will be participating in three (3) local donation drive initiatives to support those in need! Keep reading to learn more about our three Seaside Cares initiatives with easy ways for you to make a difference in the community this holiday season! ‘Stuff The Truck’ Holiday Drive
On Saturday, December 9th, the R/C KDH Movies 10 is hosting a Free Holiday Movies event at 10:00 AM, and Seaside Vacations will be there with a Seaside Truck to fill! The ‘Stuff The Truck’ Holiday Drive aims to collect essential items and non-perishable goods for those in need within the Outer Banks community during the festive season. With the cooperation of attendees and the community, Seaside Vacations hopes to fill a truck with donations that will benefit our local individuals and families facing hardships.
Help Us Feed Families in Need
We understand that the holidays can be a challenging time for many families. The client base at the Beach Food Pantry has doubled since last year, meaning that there are twice as many families who are in need of food all year round. That's why we're launching this food drive to collect non-perishable food items to help those who are less fortunate. We invite everyone to participate and contribute to this worthy cause.
In partnership with the Beach Food Pantry and the Cape Hatteras Food Pantry, starting now and running through Thanksgiving and Christmas, we encourage you to drop off non-perishable food items at either of our Seaside Vacations offices, conveniently located in Kitty Hawk and Avon. Donations dropped off at our Kitty Hawk location will be donated to the Beach Food Pantry while donations at our Avon office will go to the Cape Hatteras Food Pantry on Hatteras Island. This holiday food drive is not just about helping those in need; it's also an opportunity for us to come together as a community and make a difference. We encourage you to share this initiative with your friends, family, and neighbors. Together, we can collect a significant amount of food to support the Beach Food Pantry and Cape Hatteras Food Pantry.
What Should I Donate?
Our local food pantries in Dare County are in need of just about everything non-perishable you can think of, but here are a few staples that they could especially use during the holiday season.
- Canned Vegetables 14-15oz
- Peanut butter 16-18oz
- Canned beans 14-15oz
- Breakfast items - Cereal, oatmeal, grits, breakfast bars, pop tarts
- Rice- Brown and White 1 lb bags
- Canned Fruits - packed in juice or water 15oz
- Hygiene items - toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, etc.
- Canned soups
- Hamburger Helper, Knorrs sides, etc.
- Instant Mashed Potatoes.
Help Us Make Christmas Magical for Local Kids
In addition to accepting donations for the Beach Food Pantry and the Cape Hatteras Food Pantry, both of our office locations will also be collecting donations for Toys for Tots. Drop off new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0 up to 12 years old at our Kitty Hawk and Avon locations. Toys will then be donated to Toys for Tots who will distribute them to children in need, ensuring that Santa shows up and makes the holiday season merry and bright for everyone.
What Should I Donate?
Toys for Tots does not publish a list of appropriate toys to donate. If such a list were created, most would follow it, resulting in a limited selection of items to distribute in each community. They would rather our donors consider what might be an appropriate gift for their own child/relative, purchase the item, and donate to Toys for Tots. This is a great way to get your own kids involved! Help this pick up something that they would like to donate. And when it doubt, you can always count on a classic. Sports gear, board games, and books are always a hit with everyone and will make any child smile.
Help Us Support Our Local Senior-Citizens
And last but not least, we will be supporting our local senior citizens with a Clothing & Amenities Drive to provide donations to Peak Resources Outer Banks and Spring Arbor Outer Banks. Help us support some of the most vulnerable folks in our community by donating clothing, snacks, and amenities that are sure to make their road to recovery much more pleasant.
We will also be holding a Stuff-the-Truck event at R/C Kill Devil Hills Movies 10 on December 9! Come enjoy some fun holiday movies as we partner with East Carolina Radio. Join us for a day of festive films and goodwill as we collect clothing and essential amenities for the elderly residents at Peak Resources Outer Banks and Spring Arbor Outer Banks. Your generous donations will provide comfort and warmth to our beloved seniors during the winter months.
