Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational

Date: June 1, 2019 – June 7, 2019

Head down to Hatteras Island to cheer on talented kiteboarders from all over the world who have come together to compete in the 2019 Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational. Watch as 24 men and 10 women compete for $50,000 in prize money and the 2019 Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational Champion title. Competitors are chosen from the previous year’s competitors, additional invited riders, Wildcard Video Contest winners and Triple-S Open winners. Hosted by REAL Watersports in Waves, the REAL Slider Park features an 82-foot A-frame, 56-ft rooftop rail, a 45-ft reverse rainbow, and two kickers perfect for a heated competition in the gorgeous Pamlico Sound. Every night during the week of the competition, there will be events and live music performances going on at the soundfront Watermen’s Bar & Grill that offers a perfect view of the competition. National Running Day

Kick off the summer running season with National Running Day! This country-wide holiday honors the sport of running with a series of races all across the nation and we think the Outer Banks is a great place to compete. In fact, Seaside Vacations has partnered with the OBX Running Club to present this awesome event! Registration is $25 and includes race merchandise and refreshments. Runners can participate in a 5k or a 1-mile road course. The races will start at the Market Place Shopping Plaza in Southern Shores at 7:30 AM and runners will head North up the beautiful Highway 12. Awards will be given out for various categories including top 3 male/female overall, top male/female over 40 and top male/female 14 and under. Canned food and dry goods will be collected on-site to benefit the OBX Food Pantry through The Sonder Project. Outer Banks Tiny Home Festival

Date: June 8, 2019 – June 9, 2019

If you’ve been following the recent “tiny house” trend, the OBX Tiny Home Festival is perfect for you! Come check out expert craftmanship and creative space-saving designs as you tour some of the most famous tiny homes ever built, including homes that have been featured on the HGTV network. You’ll also get to hear key speakers talk about the tiny home movement while enjoying tasty treats from local food trucks. There will be craft vendors, a beer garden and live entertainment on site for your enjoyment. Hosted by the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, this weekend event is held at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. Children 12 and under get in free. Father’s Day

Father’s Day is the perfect reason to head to the beach! From local attractions and fun activities, there is plenty to do that Dad will love! If your father is an avid golfer, sign up for 18-holes at Sea Scape Golf Links in Kitty Hawk, Nags Head Golf Links in Nags Head or head to Powells Point for the Kilmarlic Golf Club and The Pointe Golf Club. Does your Dad enjoy craft beer? He’ll love a trip to the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills, Lost Colony Brewery and Café in Manteo, Northern Outer Banks Brewing Company in Corolla or the Weeping Radish Farm Brewery in Grandy. If he enjoys fishing, one of the many fishing piers along the coast are sure to please or for something more exciting, why not book a charter boat so Dad can do a little deep-sea fishing? Summer Slam Kayak Fishing Tournament

Do you have what it takes to reel in an award-winning catch? Join other anglers in this Outer Banks wide watercraft fishing tournament. This photo catch-and-release style competition allows fisherman to hit their favorite spot as long as it falls within the borders of Wright Memorial Bridge and Hatteras Inlet and is within 1-mile offshore East or within the Manns Harbor and Currituck shorelines on the West. Hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites, this exciting competition will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category. Tournament species are flounder, speckled trout and red drum and the competition runs between first light and 5:00 PM. An event cookout and award ceremony will follow starting at 6 PM.
